Weāve had a really fun week with so much answered prayer!
In our last report (here) we asked for prayer over the strikes in the country and for us to stay in good spirits despite being disappointed about our cancelled holiday. Thankfully, the strikes didnāt really reach Santo Domingo, meaning we could still have a busy weekend.
On Friday in the city, we watched a parade celebrating 55 years of Santo Domingo. The parade was full of colourful dances, pageant queens and representations of the indigenous communities. It was so much fun! It was such a joyful celebration, and a few days later someone reminded us of a verse in Psalm 23: āyou prepare a banquet for me in the presence of my enemiesā. We were so encouraged to see how God graciously blessed us with a banquet in the midst of unideal circumstances, and for the way heās been keeping us safe over the last 8 weeks.
On Sunday we celebrated Fatherās Day at church and enjoyed lots of performances from the younger children. In the evening, we were invited to explore the local funfair with the university students from church. It was a very busy and exciting experience and we are so pleased to be building such great friendships with other young Christians here in Ecuador.
Another answer to prayer is an improvement in Jessie and Abiās health – although still a little tired, they are both recovering very well and could take part in all the fun of the weekend.
Please continue to pray for the strikes in Ecuador – for peace in the country and for the other Latin Link members that may be affected. We would also appreciate continued prayer for our health and safety over the next 4 weeks, that we would make the most of the rest of our time here, and that weād be bold in sharing our faith.
Ā”Gracias!
