EARTHQUAKE DONATIONS

Following the devastating earthquake on Monday 10th August, affecting many areas of Colombia, Ian and Juliana will be supporting projects and churches in the recovery effort. This is a section of a recent report they sent:

“There are a number of small anabaptist churches scattered throughout the affected region. The Mennonite church at national level is carrying-out a needs assessment to find out how church communities have been affected by the quake, whilst responding for the moment with some immediate aid. We have already heard reports that one church building was severely damaged and that a pastoral couple lost their home when a block of flats collapsed, but so far no deaths within these Christian communities have been reported. The Wájaro Foundation (Ian is on the board) is raising funds to help Wounaan indigenous families in the Cauca region who have lost their homes. We plan to support these and other initiatives.”

They live in Bogotá, where Ian serves with the Mennonite Church in holistic outreach to Venezuelan migrants, in teaching and in preaching. He also supports initiatives for healthy nutrition and food security. Juliana promotes care for creation amongst churches and church networks, both locally and more widely.
