David Gregg

My name is David and I am from Belfast. I have just finished my undergraduate degree in Law with Spanish at Queen’s University Belfast and I wanted to take part in a stride placement to experience a long-term mission abroad and use my Spanish to share the gospel with others. I will be going to Ecuador for around 6 months from September to February.

I will be serving with a foundation called Niños con Destino, based in Sangolquí just outside Quito, Ecuador. Their vision is to eradicate child labour, particularly those selling on the streets, with the ultimate aim that every child will come to know God. In the main centre where I will be based, I will be helping the children and young people with educational support, different activities (sport, music, etc) and most importantly opening the Bible with them in the devotional time together. In my role I will seek to focus on this devotional time and be intentional with the evangelism side of the organisation.

I would hugely appreciate your prayer for these three main things:

  • Adjusting to a different culture: Although I know some of South American culture, I would ask you would pray for me to quickly get used to the culture their and speaking Spanish every day.
  •  Devotional times: Pray for God to work through me in the devotional times, that his word would really connect to the students and their ears and hearts would be open to hearing it.
  •  Building relationships: Pray that I am able to build trusting relationships with the young people and they would seek to ask more questions about God. Further that they feel like a normal child despite their hard circumstances.
